I admit it--I have a fetish for chocolate. If it's covered in chocolate, chances are I'll eat it. I don't know where this obsession came from, but it is real. When I went on the liquid diet last year to lose 55 pounds, my need for chocolate multiplied itself by 100. I literally heard chocolate call my name. Now some of you know exactly where I'm coming from and I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
Did you know that the devil will send thoughts that are tailor-made to whatever we need? He knows our weak spot and he crafts his message specifically for it.
You need a better job. People at this place don't treat you with enough respect!
It's perfectly permissable for you to flirt with him. After all, your husband isn't giving you the attention you need!
Your family just doesn't understand you. So you need to give them a piece of your mind!
You've given so much of yourself and time to this company. It won't hurt if you use some of the company's money for your own needs.
The devil always points out what is missing, lacking or negative in our life. He will deceive us, manipulate us and do whatever he can to get us to yield to that weak area. He is going to come back again and again because the more times he can successfully tempt us in that area, the weaker that area becomes for the next punch. What happens next? That area becomes a spiritual stronghold for him! What is a weak area for you and I becomes a feeding trough for him and a place he can control.
2 Corinthians says,"The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into capitivity to the obedience of Christ." Think about it...the longer we entertain a negative thought about our neediness, the harder it may be for us to change the way we think. Eve's first mistake? She listened to the devil!
God's Word challenges us to take control of our thoughts and subject them to obedience and bring them in line with what God teaches us and what Jesus has already done for us.

Barbie, you amaze me, AMAZE me at how you always blog about something I am needing at the EXACT time I need it. God really knows how to use you. Your blog is such a God-thing, it is incredible. Thank you. I blogged last week about how I messed up and how Satan just knows how to hit me right where he knows it will bring me down. Fortunately I have some mentors and we had a 3 hour dinner conversation Monday night and what you said in this post is exactly some of the things we talked about. On that same night I posted a video on my blog from the lead singer of Tenth Avenue North that referred to confessing sins one to another so that we can be prayed for in our week moments by other followers. It's a powerful, short testimonial he gave.

I love your examples. It is very easy to get side tracked into what's not happening for us. Been there done that! After being a stay home mom now for six years, God has had plenty of time to show me what I really have, and to be thankful. Taking me out of the working world, where I am less distracted has been the best thing that happen to me. But I'll let you in on a secret, I fought the idea of coming home. Now when I she those hurting in a job or a marriage, I just want to wrap my arms around them, encouraging them of what they really might already have.

I am at a point in my life where I am trying to elevate to where God wants me to be, and this post speaks right to me. :D I find myself trying to discern God's voice more and more, and try to avoid what Satan tries to trigger in my life.
