If you live long enough, you're bound to be disappointed. It's what you do with the disappointment that propels you forward.
God promises restoration. Joel 2:25 says, "I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the creeping locust, the stripping locust and the gnawing locust." Have you ever felt like problems were swarming around you, creeping, eating or gnawing away at you or even stripping away at you or your dreams? In this verse, the Lord was speaking of Israel, but there is an eternal principle involved that you and I can apply to our lives. When you trust God with your circumstances, He will not only solve whatever problem you're facing but He will restore all that you've lost in the process.
We face difficulties that are sometimes beyond our ability to handle. God promises hope and restoration when our faith is in Him alone. Deuteronomy 30:1-3 says, "So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind...and you return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul...then the Lord your God will restore you."
In our difficult times, God develops character and strengthens us spiritually, all while helping us to grow deeper in our faith in Him. His restoration of what you've lost will come, perhaps in a way you had not even thought of! Nevertheless, it will come and you will be able to sense God's goodness in the process.
