God Answers Prayers

I noticed I was a bit emotional yesterday and couldn't figure out why. When I passed by the calendar on the refrigerator, I noticed the date: June 12. This date may not mean anything to you, but it does to me. It was the date our second child was to be born. She would've been two years old yesterday. When I found out I was pregnant, I found the perfect scripture verse to claim for the baby I was carrying. Ephesians 3:17 says "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Every day of my pregnancy, I prayed that scripture. When we lost her, I was devastated.

After slipping into a deep depression over the miscarriage, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart. "The scripture you prayed for came true. Your baby now realizes 'how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ' because she is with Him." I was comforted that the prayer I prayed was answered, just not in the way I would have ever imagined.

Lamentations 3:25 says "The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him." And, boy is He! Baby Will came to be shortly after we lost our second child. One thing is for sure, God answers prayers. Sometimes it isn't the answer we hoped for, but His answer is all we ever need. Baby Will may never "replace" the one we lost, but the scripture I prayed while I was carrying him is fulfilled every day. Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

I'm so sorry for your loss, but am grateful for the grace extended to you.

I love Zephaniah 3:17 for two reasons:

1. I'm a mom and have sung many songs over my beloved children, so I like the picture of Dad singing over me.

2. I'm the worship leader at our church and I like knowing God sings.

Barbie,
You are in my prayers. Having suffered a miscarriage myself after trying for nearly 3 years to get pregnant, I know how hard those anniversaries can be. I now look into the big blue eyes of my 9 month old and realize how good God is! Hope today is better for you.
