Blessing Your Enemies

One of the things I most admire about my mother is her willingness to pray for her enemies. I think the most powerful prayer we can pray is for those who like to hate us and make our lives miserable. If you want to see someone who is mighty in prayer, look for someone who will intercede for those people. God blesses us tremendously when we pray for those who have offended or betrayed us.

Job chose to pray for his friends after they had really hurt and disappointed him and immediately after he prayed, the Bible says God began to restore Job's life. In Job 42:10, the Bible says God gave him back twice as much as he had lost! Praying for someone who has hurt us is powerful because we are obeying the Word of God.

Matthew 5:44 says, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." When you think about people who have used, abused and harassed you, pray for them. God knows blessing your enemies isn't easy and you may not feel like doing it. But you don't do it because you feel like it--you do it as unto the Lord. God will do great things in our life as a result of it!

We don't know each other but I just want to tell you how I've always admired you and what you represent. You are one of few broadcasters that inspired me to want to go into broadcasting when I was deciding what I wanted to do with my life. Although, I came to my junior year of college and decided I didn't want to be on television, I still look to you as a model of what a woman of God should be.

Funny story...one of my best friends was a weather intern at WLBT. He recently went throught a tough trial with a relationship that ended abrubtly. When talking with him about the situation and just trying to sort things out and encourage him because I had been in a similar situation, he mentioned that you had been a great mentor to him and was really encouraging during that time in his life. I just wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration and such a woman of integrity and for helping my friend through that time.

Thank you for being who you are.

In Christ,

Katie Walden
