Viewer Calls & Emails

This have been a very active week for the phone callers to share their opinion about my pregnancy. Here are just some of them:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Barbie, how do you get around being so big? I mean, how do you walk?"

"Barbie, please go home. We're tired of seeing you pregnant all of the time!"

"How many more kids are you going to have, Barbie?"

(And, I received this email.)

"Barbie,
You are my favorite meterologist on tv. I have always felt you are beauiful and have beautiful hair! I have only one problem, your blouses do nothing for a pregnant woman. They all seem to be belted below your chest which does nothing for your look as a TV Meterologist. I realize it is bit to late for my letter but after tonights show I felt I needed to send this note because tonight was the worse one blouse. I could see your skin from your chest to the black pants. The "see-through" white material was not flattering for a pregnant woman. You have too much class for that. Please take this as a suggestion. I am one of your top fans! Good luck with the new baby. Signed, Mark Peoples"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, I respond to my viewers and want to acknowledge that I received their comments. On Thursday night, I wore an off white shirt with a belt that tied in the back (like most maternity clothes are made). Because the numerous complaints I've had about my "chest" getting bigger (as most expectant mothers do), I started wearing a camosole underneath all of my clothes which has spandex in it and acts as a chest girdle (oh, the things we'll do to appease the viewers). What Mark was seeing was not my skin showing through, but the beige cami. Even though I was wearing the cami underneath as a girdle to push everything in, I still got a complaint that the shirt did "nothing for my look".

And then, I sat down and took at look at the pictures we had taken earlier this week of our baby girl through the 4D sonogram. If you'll look closely, you'll see she barely opened one eye and was sleeping with her hand and arm underneath her chin. The other matter you see in the picture is the amniotic fluid that is constantly moving and shows up as a 4D substance. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to disappearing for a while, enjoying this little one and being criticism-free (until I return, I'm sure).

What awesome pix of your little girl! I know you are getting more and more excited as the day approaches. Please know that for everyone of the critical emails and phone calls there are many who love you just as you are! You are an encouragement to many... a woman of faith who is allowing God to direct her life and use her in mighty ways! Barbara Campbell

I am so jealous! We have the same ob & she didn't have the 4D when I was pregnant ~ there was only a rumor that one may be coming soon. I'm so glad you got to use it! Baby girl is so cute (and so very close to being here! WOW!)

I knew you had a beige cami on ~ but I've been a recently pregger girl ;) I remember the tricks!

I am so sorry that you have to endure such hateful emails. I seriously don't know what goes through people's minds sometimes. Like Barbara said, there are just as many people that love you (if not more) for every viewer email you receive. Hang in there and keep pushing through. The 4D pics are great! She's precious and I know you can't wait to meet her.

What awesome pictures. I'm sure you and your family are excited.

I just wanted to say to the haters (ha ha) Have you never had a bad dress day? Everyone has an off day. Just because Barbie is on TV doesn't mean she is perfect and can be perfect all the time. Are you Perfect? If you say yes your lying, because the only perfect person is in heaven.

Thanks :)

How precious! Those 4D sonograms are the neatest things. And your family is just beautiful. I know you are so thankful and blessed by them each day. Please continue to "perservere" through any critical e-mails. I, honestly, have thought that your clothes recently (when I've actually been able to watch the news!) have been very flattering. Just remain faithful to the One who's called you!

how precious is she!!!!! i still hate that people "think" they have a right to tell you things like that. i thought the south was supposed to be full of hospitality! guess you get to see the other side of that way too often.

we'll keep praying for this sweet little girl until she gets here!!!

Those sonograms are awesome. I did not know what this baby was supposed to be but I have noticed how high you have carried this one. I am so jealous. We have 2 girls, 8 & 3. I think we are probably done, due to health reasons. People can be so critical. I left a comment on the blog section of the clarion ledger. Some guy was having a stroke because I did not use a word correctly. I am not perfect nor do I pretend to be. Keep up the good work and best wishes with the new addition.

Don't let these few viewers get you down. Remember you are a beautiful woman (pregnant or not). For the one viewer that asked "How many children are you going to have?" I would like to remind her of the scripture in Psalms 127:3that reads "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him."

Too often children are seen as liabilities rather than assets. But the Bible calls them "a gift from the Lord". Those who view children as a nuisance should instead see them as an opportunity to shape the future. We dare not treat children as an inconvenience when God values them so highly.

Until God tells us our quivers are full (with children) -verse 5, then we are truly blessed that God would allow us such a great privilage to continue to have as many as he sees fit.

Bless you in all you do.
