Ever Feel Like Quitting?

I feel like quitting right now. After I got off the set last night, I received this email. Tell me if you wouldn't want to quit, too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barbie is a little chunky but pretty nevertheless. Problem I have is that her wardrobe looks like it's from Walmart and doesn't fit well either. Mostly too small and makes her look even fatter than she is. Can you please get her to dress better?? I just moved into the area from Chicago. The news people there seem to watch their weight better, and wear clothes that fit.

I cried all the way home last night and kept crying through the night. For a moment there, I had a flashback to elementary school, being on the playground and someone calling me 'fatso' while the other is making fun of the clothes my mother had made me.

In the middle of all the hurt last night (and this morning), the Holy Spirit was trying to console me. I remember the story of David. Samuel had been sent by God to find a new king. David was the runt of his family and had much better looking older brothers. When Samuel saw David's brother Eliab, he thought Eliab was the best looking of the bunch and would make a handsome king. But God told Samuel in 1 Samuel 16:7, "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

I wanted to be a meteorologist to forecast and present the weather, along with sharing my faith. I never had a desire to be looked at for who I was on the outside, because as I child I wasn't much to look at. Mike probably hasn't heard that television makes people appear 10-15 pounds larger than they really are. It will be hard today not to think about what Mike has said, but I'll press on and try to remember "the Lord looks at the heart".

Barbie,
I am so sorry that there are so many cruel people in this world. Please don't let it get you down. You are absolutely beautiful...on the inside and out. I know I certainly have days like this where I feel like quitting as well. In fact, I just went through this earlier this week. I help direct the Preschool Dept. at my church (strictly volunteer position) and I spend a great deal of time coordinating events for the department for the sake of the children. Satan has been trying to bring down our department lately with a bad apple and it has caused hurt feelings all around. I discovered this week that "this apple" complained about the last event that I planned and said that she heard that some people were complaining about it. It's odd since everyone I talked to said that the event was great and that their kids had a great time. Regardless, it hurt my feelings and made me think, "Why even bother?" But, you know what? I didn't plan that event for that person..I planned it for those kids. If those kids had a great time, that's all that matters. Barbie, you are a lovely person who does her job very well while also sharing the Gospel with others. That's all that matters. Keep up the good work!

Oh, Barbie! I can't believe someone could be so cruel! (Well, I actually can believe it because there are certainly a lot of thoughtless people, but still!) I don't care how you look on TV! (Which is drop-dead gorgeous by the way!) He had no business saying that. Those are just the lies Satan would have us believe, the lies I try to counter with truth to my two daughters. His lies? Materialism and outward appearances are everything and character means nothing. I buy my clothes at Wal-mart and I'm a daughter of the King of kings! You just hold your head up high. Revelation 12:10 calls Satan the accuser of the brethren. Don't listen to him! You just keep shining for Jesus. (Maybe the light is just too bright for some people.)

Barbie,
It breaks my heart to hear about the e-mails that you get and I want to give you a word of encouragement...

Colossians 3:23 - "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."

I believe that as long as you are doing what you have been called to do (which I think you are) and doing it to the best of your ability (which I think you are) then the Lord will bless you. And, for all those 'mikes' in the world, they'll have to account for themselves.

Have a GREAT day -

Barbie,

Mike is so very rude, you do not look chunky. Nor does your wardrobe look like it came from Walmart. As everyone else has stated, it is just the devil trying to steel your joy.
God Bless

Barbie, I am so sorry that guy said that. Being a "big girl" myself, I know what it feels like to be ridiculed. Just a couple of weeks ago, someone made a very rude comment about me just out of left field-the comment made me think about my grade schools days and the comments I had to endure. I'm a singer, and even though I appreciate the compliments I get from others, the negative comments will bother me for days.
If "Mike Mullen" from Chicago doesn't like the way you look, maybe he needs to go to another channel to watch the weather forecast. Keep your chin up, honey-don't even let it bother you!

Yeah, whats this guy's problem anyway? I think everyone should buy their clothes at Walmart..But then again, I'm biased..see my profile..As far as his comments about physical appearance, maybe he should read this.
Mat 7:1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
Mat 7:2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
Mat 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?
Mat 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

My wive and mother are fans of your work. They brought this blog to my attention. God bless you. Mike needs to go back to chicago and leave our southern bells alone!
