Predictions for 2008

Stand in the checkout line long enough in the grocery store and you'll notice magazines of all types making their predictions for 2008. Isn't it funny how some try to predict the future (meteorologists not included!)?

Once we understand and embrace what the Bible teaches about the character and sovereignty of God, we will find calm in the center of life's storms. God rules overs all--there are no accidents in life, that no tactic of Satan or man can thwart the will of God--should bring divine comfort. Because God is sovereign, we can believe and embrace the promise in Romans 8:28-30, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified."

Here is a prediction for 2008:
1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
2. Prayer will still work.
3. The Holy Spirit will still move.
4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.
5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.
6. There will still be singing of praise to God.
7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.
8. There will still be room at the Cross.
9. Jesus will still love you.
10. Jesus will still save the lost.

When we grasp the truth of how all things are working together for good to conform us to His image, then in faith we'll be able to rejoice and do as 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

A post like that proves one thing. God will never leave you nor forsake you, no matter how gloomy things appear to be, or how much the world changes.
